Customer terms
Terms and Conditions
These terms explain postcard orders, payment, delivery, cancellation and the digital features you choose. Your mandatory consumer rights remain intact.
Effective 13 October 2026 · Last updated 23 October 2026
01
Your agreement and our service
These terms apply when you use Snailmail to create and order a postcard or use digital features offered with it. The seller is Smail, Skanegatan 8C, 11645 Stockholm, Sweden. Your order summary, product descriptions and the terms supplied with your order make up the purchase agreement. Mandatory consumer rights always take priority.
You must be legally able to place an order where you live. If you are under the age of majority, a parent or guardian must place or approve the order where required by law.
Contact hello@smail.cards about an order, payment, complaint or these terms. Include an order reference if available. Do not send full payment-card details or passwords.
The service covers individual orders without a subscription or automatic renewal. Optional features and prices are shown before you choose them. A feature shown as unavailable is not part of your purchase.
02
Designing, reviewing and placing an order
Check the artwork, text, layout, card size, recipient address and any attached media before confirming an order. Checkout identifies what you are buying and the amount payable. A purchase agreement is formed only when Snailmail confirms that it has accepted your order. A pending payment, payment authorisation or payment receipt alone is not acceptance. We send an order confirmation for an accepted order.
Production uses the version of your card included in the accepted order. Editing another draft or generating new art later does not change a purchased card. Screen and print colours can differ reasonably because of displays, paper and printing. This does not remove your rights if a product is faulty or materially different from what was agreed.
Provide an address that can receive the card and accurate recipient information. An automated address check cannot guarantee delivery. If an address needs correction, contact us promptly. We will assess any delivery problem fairly, and your mandatory rights remain intact.
03
Prices and payment
Before payment, checkout shows the currency, item prices, selected add-ons, delivery charges and applicable taxes. For Swedish consumer offers, displayed prices include VAT and other mandatory taxes. We will not add undisclosed compulsory fees after purchase. Your bank may apply its own currency-conversion or payment charges.
The confirmed price applies to that order. Later price changes apply to later purchases. If a material pricing error occurs, we will explain it and offer a lawful correction or cancellation rather than silently charge more.
04
Production, shipment and delivery
Once payment is confirmed and the recipient address is ready, allow approximately 2–3 working days for production before posting. We mail worldwide, except to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba and Kosovo. Enter the full recipient address to confirm eligibility. My orders shows a destination-specific estimated arrival when one is available; some destinations have no estimate. Shipment means handing the card to the delivery service; arrival means delivery to the recipient. An estimate is not a guaranteed arrival date, but it must have a reasonable basis. If you need a card for a particular event, check the service information and contact us before ordering.
If we cannot fulfil an order or meet an applicable shipment commitment, we will tell you and provide the choices required by law, including cancellation and refund where applicable. For US merchandise orders, we follow the rules on shipment within the promised time, or normally within 30 days if no shipment time was stated, and on delay notices, consent and refunds. Personalisation does not create an exception to these shipping obligations.
For Swedish consumers, we remain responsible for the goods during delivery arranged by us until the applicable legal delivery point. A printing or delivery provider's involvement does not remove our responsibility to you. Contact us if an order is damaged, missing or late.
05
Delivery promise
If your postcard doesn't arrive, let us know. We'll review the order and, for eligible non-delivery cases, provide one complimentary replacement postcard. Delivery dates are estimates, not guaranteed arrival dates. This policy does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
06
Cancellation, address-later orders and refunds
Contact us as soon as you want to cancel. Some orders may already have been released to printing, so a self-service cancellation option may no longer be available. That technical limit does not remove a statutory cancellation or remedy that applies to your order.
For an eligible paid postcard that is still awaiting an address, the supported self-service cancellation returns the amount allocated to that postcard; other cards in the same order retain their recorded prices. If its stated address deadline expires while it is still awaiting an address, that eligible postcard is cancelled and its allocated payment is refunded. The applicable deadline is shown for the order.
We do not promise that every order already released to production, or with an uncertain production status, can be instantly cancelled. We will investigate an uncertain status without duplicating your order. Refunds owed by law or under an agreed cancellation are returned to the original payment method where possible. We will tell you if another method is needed. Payment-provider processing can take additional time, but does not extend a legal deadline for us to initiate a refund.
For Swedish consumers, withdrawal and pre-delivery cancellation are different rights. A right to cancel before delivery can apply even to personalised goods. Where the law allows reasonable compensation for costs already incurred, we will explain any deduction and its basis. We do not automatically keep the full price or charge a blanket cancellation penalty.
07
Withdrawal rights and personalised goods
Swedish and other eligible EU consumers normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance purchase. The legal exception can apply to a card made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised, such as with your individual photo or personal message. It does not apply merely because a standard item is printed after purchase or you select only standard preset options. Where the exception applies, we explain it before purchase. It concerns change-of-mind withdrawal, not faulty goods, failure to supply or other statutory remedies.
For an eligible non-personalised purchase, notify hello@smail.cards within 14 days after you or your nominated recipient receives the goods. You can use your own clear statement or this form: “I give notice that I withdraw from my purchase of [goods], ordered on [date], received on [date]. Name: [name]. Address: [address]. Order reference: [reference].” Send it by email or post to Smail at the seller address above. We will acknowledge your request and give return instructions. Your statutory rights are not conditional on using this form.
If a separately supplied digital service or digital content is offered, we provide its required information and obtain any legally necessary express request or consent before early performance affects withdrawal rights. Accepting these general terms alone does not automatically waive every digital withdrawal right.
08
Faults, complaints and remedies
If your card or purchased digital feature is faulty, materially misdescribed, damaged or not supplied, contact hello@smail.cards. Tell us what happened and provide an order reference and a photograph if reasonably useful. You do not need to contact our supplier instead of us.
For Swedish consumer goods, statutory complaint rights generally extend to three years after delivery. Notify us within a reasonable time after noticing a fault; a complaint made within two months is always timely. The remedy depends on the circumstances and law and may include correction or replacement, a price reduction, cancellation and refund, or compensation. Personalisation does not remove these rights, and they are not limited to a short voluntary guarantee.
US customers retain applicable federal and state rights, including rights concerning misleading promises, defective products and payment disputes. Approving a design does not require you to give up legal remedies.
09
AI tools and your content
AI tools can create unexpected details or similar results for different users. Review an image before choosing it for a card. We do not guarantee an exact response to every prompt, exclusivity or that every AI-generated element qualifies for copyright protection. Your statutory rights concerning our service and the product remain unchanged.
You retain rights you already have in your photographs, messages and other uploads. Only upload material you are entitled to use and supply for the intended service, including any necessary permissions concerning other people's images or voices. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, threatening, exploitative or non-consensual intimate content.
You give us a non-exclusive licence limited to storing, processing, adapting as you request, displaying to authorised recipients, printing, physically mailing to your intended recipient, and providing support for your chosen content and order, through service providers as needed. This licence does not itself authorise unrelated advertising or model training. The Privacy and AI Notice explains personal-data processing, provider handling and retention; this licence does not promise a particular provider's training policy.
We may refuse a specific request or restrict content where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety or protection of rights. Where lawful and practical, we explain the action and provide a contact route. If we decline a paid order we cannot provide, we address the refund due rather than automatically retain payment.
10
Media, recipient links and sharing
A postcard may include a link or QR code to recipient features you selected. Anyone with a valid access or sharing link may be able to use its permitted features, so share it carefully. We do not promise that links are absolutely confidential or permanently accessible.
Private messages and attached media are distinct from an approved sharing image. Choosing to publish a sharing image does not by itself authorise publishing every private part of the gift. Recipient controls and the Privacy and AI Notice explain the visibility, moderation and deletion or reporting options available for the feature. Contact us if you need help with access, reporting or deletion.
11
Accounts, security and availability
Keep account access secure and contact us if you suspect misuse. We may temporarily limit features for security, capacity or maintenance. We will handle accepted paid orders and applicable refunds fairly during an interruption. Changes to available tools do not retrospectively remove a purchased entitlement or mandatory legal right.
12
Responsibility and resolving disputes
We are responsible for complying with our agreement and applicable law. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable liability for fraud, intentional wrongdoing, personal injury or mandatory consumer remedies. These terms do not impose a blanket customer indemnity, compulsory arbitration or class-action waiver.
Please contact hello@smail.cards first so we can try to resolve a problem. This does not prevent a payment dispute, regulator complaint, legal claim or other remedy available to you. Eligible Swedish consumers may contact Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN) at arn.se.
These terms impose no exclusive foreign court or choice-of-law clause. Consumers retain mandatory protections and legally available courts. Where EU consumer conflict-of-law and jurisdiction rules apply, a law choice must not deprive consumers of mandatory home-country protection, and relevant consumer forum rights remain.
13
Updates
The terms supplied with an order apply to that order. We may update terms for future purchases and show the revised date. A material change to an ongoing purchased digital service is handled under the applicable law and agreement, not by silently rewriting its terms.
